Quebec recognizes foreign judgments as a matter of principle. In order to render a judgment issued by a foreign Court enforceable in Quebec, meaning, to force a defendant to respect the terms of the judgment (payment of a sum of money for example), the plaintiff must undertake a homologation process.
There is no review of the substance of the dispute, but only verification by the Quebec judge that certain conditions are met.
