Achieve Canadian Permanent Residency in 6 Months Using Express Entry: A Guide To Accelerate Your Immigration Journey
Express Entry to Canada: secure permanent residence in just 6 months
Immigrate to Canada in 6 Months: is it really possible? Many immigration candidates miss this opportunity due to a lack of knowledge about the different options available to them. Natacha Mignon untangles the truth from the false.
Like Quebec, other Canadian provinces have a system for selecting their permanent immigrants. While the Belle Province uses the Arrima platform, the rest of Canada uses the Express Entry system.
Although there are several categories under the Express Entry program, the skilled worker category is specifically for people wishing to immigrate to Canada from abroad.
"Express Entry may be the most unknown pathway to permanent residence for the French. Yet, this selection system favors Francophones wishing to settle in Canada."Me Natacha Mignon, CEO, Immetis
A program illustrating the concept of chosen immigration, candidates are awarded points based on objective criteria such as their academic training, proficiency in French and English, and professional experience.
At regular intervals, federal authorities invite candidates with the highest points in the pool to submit a permanent residence application. Once the invitation is accepted, these candidates have 60 days to submit their permanent residence application, which will be processed within 6 months!
“Including the preparatory phase for registration in the pools, which includes language tests and diploma recognition, a candidate abroad with an admissible score can reasonably expect to become a permanent resident of Canada within a year.”

But let’s take a look at some examples.
- Marie is 37 years old and Belgian
- She is single
- French is her mother tongue
- Marie has a good level of English
- She holds a master’s degree in psychology
- Marie has worked for 5 years as an administrative assistant
- Currently, she does not have a job offer in Canada.
This candidate potentially scores 485 points, which guarantees her an invitation to apply for permanent residence! Indeed, the average observed in recent months is 470 points.
Another example, this time with a candidate who has found a job in Canada and thus has a job offer.
- Omar is 32 years old, Moroccan
- He is married, his wife is 30 years old
- Both have a very good level of French
- Omar has a good level of English due to his studies abroad, and his wife is bilingual thanks to her childhood in England
- Mr. holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and Mrs. a master’s degree in economics
- Both have more than 5 years of experience in a qualified position
- Finally, Omar has been offered a job in British Columbia.
Together, this couple potentially scores 516 points, again ensuring they receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence!
Permanent residence: 3 years in Quebec vs 1 year elsewhere in Canada
The time to access permanent residence in an English-speaking province is therefore significantly shortened compared to the current times to obtain the same status in Quebec as a skilled worker from abroad.
Although the processing announced by the Ministry of Immigration, Francisation, and Integration Quebec under Arrima is also 6 months, it is clear that currently the invitations sent under this platform have concerned people who already had a status in Quebec or received support from an employer. And immigrate to Quebec via Express Entry?
The temptation exists among many candidates… The practice is strongly discouraged as it constitutes false declaration. Candidates indeed select the province in which they wish to immigrate. This choice must be sincere and respected. Express Entry is therefore for candidates wishing to settle in Canada, in a province other than Quebec.
They will have to settle there, even if in the following years everyone is free to move anywhere in Canada.
Given the diversity of Canada, the beauty of the different provinces, the prospect of educating their children in English, and the opportunities for Francophones, there is no doubt that the Express Entry pathway should now be closely considered by Francophone immigration candidates.
Express Entry in 6 Steps :
