The freedom to create a business or to invest is possible all over Canada. Immétis supports you in your entrepreneurial and investment projects and guides you through the various options available.
A foreign national does therefore not need an immigration status to buy property in Canada or invest in a company. A foreign national or foreign company can also set up a company, in the form of a trading company, in Quebec and British Columbia. It is also possible elsewhere in Canada providing some of the company administrators are Canadian or have permanent residency.
This means the foreign national, as a shareholder and/or administrator of a company, cannot come to work for or manage that company. Owners of real estate cannot come to live in Canada.
This is where immigration law applies. The entrepreneur or investor who wishes to work or settle in Canada must first obtain an appropriate immigration status.
To be able to do business in Canada, the entrepreneur can either opt for a temporary status (a work permit for entrepreneurs) or a permanent status. In Quebec, there are 3 programmes that the Province sets aside for business people: investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed. Numerous other options for permanent residency are available elsewhere in Canada.
Numerous criteria will determine the choice of programmes, including: the choice of Province, the capital invested, the social and economic prospects of the project, the experience of the entrepreneur or investor, the immigrant’s assets, the date of the realisation of the project.
The quality of the project is central to the success of the application for business immigration. Before starting the immigration process, the entrepreneur or investor must have a well-defined project.
We then offer a turnkey service, taking care of all the immigration forms, the preparation of the required documents, as well as communications with the authorities.
